What is covered

This course is similar to the course Profitable Grazing Systems: Development and Implementation.  However farmers who have already calculated their enterprise gross margins and the projected cost of production for their wool, beef or lamb should do this course.  This course assumes participants have already completed these topics.

This course targets farmers who wish to profitably implement intensive grazing systems on their property.  They may have undertaken a Prograze or More Beef from Pastures course and wish to implement the principles.  The aim is to assist farmers to evaluate the profitability of proposed or possible enterprises, and design and implement a grazing system which addresses profitability, risk management and grazing management and efficiency issues.

On completion of this course participants will have:

  • Identified key risks including drought risk, associated with proposed system, and prepared strategies for dealing with them

  • Calculated monthly feed supply and animal demand and examined alternatives for achieving a profitable match between the two

  • Developed a grazing management strategy

  • Determined critical control points and how they will be measured and managed
