What is covered
This course uses “adult learning principles” and involves participants in preparing financial plans for their own farm. Participants are supplied with our Farm Business Planner software and are assisted in using it to create a business plan and associated financial plans.
Participants also receive a copy of the book Financing Your Farm which provides a valuable ongoing reference.
The course is focused on addressing the farm’s business and financial planning issues with scope to focus in areas of greatest importance to your farm. The three days will address:
Business aims and mission

Current business profile

Strategic audit

Preparation of enterprise gross margins

Cost of production analysis

Review of enterprise choice decisions

Review of farm cost structure

Preparation of farm production plan based on land use of individual paddock

Preparation of projected cash flows. These may be for a number of years ahead, and or several options

Risk management review including drought risk and drought strategies

Decide “keys” for future profitability
Participants will use the Farm Business Planner software we supply and will print out detailed plans. Participants receive a brief review of the plan, supplied to them following the 3 days on farm.
